Redbourn v St Albans Cricket Club Girls U11A on Tue 25 May 2021 at 18:00
St Albans Cricket Club Lost by 12 runs

Match report After a mix up with the location of the game, St Albans captain Asha Pisharody won the toss and decided to field. There was sensational start by opening bowler Charlotte Cowen who took wickets with her first two balls, then the younger players struggled with the length of the pitch and Redbourn progressed to 279 after 12 overs, but there was some excellent bowling in the last 4 overs by Lizzie Baylis and Anya Banerjee, and Redbourn's strong batting line up was restricted to 270-6. Lizzie took 3 wickets , Charlotte Cowen 2 and Freya Witty 1. Lizzie also took 3 catches.

St Albans reply was steady against accurate bowling, and they had reached a useful 233-1 at the half way stage. Emma Treloar and Asha made some useful runs, but the loss of as couple of wickets slowed progress and Lizzie Baylis and Anya Banerjee, although adding 20 runs (including an unfortunate run out) with Lizzie making 18 meant St Albans fell 12 short.

This was an excellent performance by St Albans against a very strong team, and congratulations to Freya Witty and Charlotte Wright who scored their first runs for the Club on debut.
