Match report The 3s travelled to Offley and Stopsley this week, who welcomed us to their ‘fortress home ground’.

The day started well with Skipper Winners winning the toss and electing to bat, a good call on what would prove to be an interesting wicket. An early loss for the Saints brought Moksy and Manny together in the middle. Some lovely batting followed, with Moksy making a tidy 35 before being dismissed. Stu then arrived and batted nicely for his 39, with Manny ending up top scorer with a beautiful 74. Some quick runs from Murph (25*) and Tom O’Toole’s dad (24, not quite as many as Murph) guided the Saints to 218-5 after their 40 overs.

Rolling back the years to 2016, Winners and Button opened up. Winners bowled very nicely for little reward, whilst Button claimed 3 in his first 5 overs at the other end. The St Albans Shane (Murph) then bowled some absolute beauties which didn’t turn and had the premier league player in all sorts of trouble. Berry paired him, bowling some absolute heat, whilst Murph picked one up before drinks leaving Offley and Stopsley 72-4 after 20.

What can only be described as awful fielding followed after drinks, allowing some resistance from the Offley middle order. The premier league player absolutely doored it, which along with a few wickets from Moksy and Tom’s dad meant Saints were in firm control, eventually winning by 70 runs and just about making it back in time for El Presidente’s birthday shenanigans at CP.

A comfortable win for the 3s ensured 30 Points for Mardelli and a league sweep for the club this weekend. ‘Fortress breached’.
