Dear All,
Those familiar with our members Jimmy and Dan Rosson, will know that the brothers are partial to a hotly contested game of Cricket Subbuteo.
As this coming Saturday represents what was going to be the opening weekend of this year’s league season we’ve come up with a cunning plan.
On Saturday all four of the season’s opening league fixtures will be played out over the course of the day alongside a Ladies game and an SACC legends vs the 1980s West Indies exhibition match.
The 1XI, 2XI, 3XI and 4XI will play the opponents they were due to play on Saturday.
The first session of the day will feature the 3X1 v Little Berkhamsted Sahibs and the 4XI v Harpenden, plus the Ladies game against opponents to be confirmed.
The second session will see the 1XI play Holtwhites Trinibis and the 2XI play North Mymms.
The day will end with the Legend's exhibition game.
The start time for the first session will 1pm with the second session starting around 3pm.
The format of each game will be 10 overs per side with every player to bowl an over with team selection and batting order for each game to be determined by the brothers Rosson
We are looking into live streaming the competition via social media – more details on that shortly – but regardless there will be scorecard and match results on all social media platforms, with regular photos throughout the day.
We also see this as a much-needed opportunity to raise some crucial funds for the club so we are asking you all if a: you would like to be selected to play and b: if you would be prepared to pay £5 match fee. All donations will go towards helping the club get through this difficult period.
We will set up a crowdfunding page in the next day or so to receive match fees and donations.
What we need you to do is the following:
Simply log into the website at www.stalbanscc.com and put your availability up for this Saturday coming . Easy. You will then be selected to play on Saturday. If we get more than 44 sign-ups we will organise a Club XI game as an extra fixture. If we don’t get the 44 players we need we’ll fill the gaps in the side with some surprise players! It really doesn't matter if you haven't played for the club recently or even if you've left the area or retired , just get involved !
All clear? Great -Just go to the website and put your availability up now .
Any questions just email Jimmy Rosson on james_rosson@hotmail.co.uk
This should be a lot of fun and if it’s a success on Saturday there’s no reason why we can’t do it throughout the season!
Regards,
St Albans Cricket club.
