Match report A good start to the league season for the third eleven with a win at Hitchin. Despite how the scorecard reads the victory was reasonably comfortable, with the middle order able to bat sensibly towards the total without making risky shots. This was the first outing of the season for many and all played very well. Particular mentions should go to Marcus Townend and Mickey Eames with the bat and Dan Longhurst and Nick Kirwan with the ball. Afroz Khan and Sam Rowland both performed well with bat and ball, Sam batting with maturity to see the side home and Afroz launching the final assault (back over the bowler's head).
Roll on next week with another very good eleven available.
