Hemel Hempstead II v St Albans Cricket Club 2XI on Sat 02 Jun 2001 at
Match was Drawn

Match report Hemel got off to slow start, but despite some accurate bowling from Afroz and Nissar Saints couldn't get an early breakthrough. On a tight ground, with a much improved Hemel track, Saints did well to keep their opponents to under 220. Fielding was good in parts but concentration was sometimes lacking when the going got tough. A particularly fine effort from Afroz, bowling 18 overs with accuracy and pace.
In chasing a target of 217 Saints got off to a good start with Matt Howeson and debutant Arsad Badordeen putting on 45 off the first 11 overs. Then two dreadful mix ups in running between the wickets, and a disputed LBW decision against the luckless Devadson started the rot, with St Albans finding themselves in trouble at 75-6 off 24 overs. However a spirited sixth wicket partnership between Jamie Swanton (70no) and Sam Pullan (34) put Saints within sight of their target. It was soon obvious that Hemel were not prepared to risk losing to gain maximum points, bowling negatively for the final 10 overs. The match ended in a draw with St Albans finishing on 178 - 8 off their allotted overs.
