Match report The threes had another horror show as they succumbed meekly to table toppers Old Cholmeleians at Verulam School.

The skipper lost the toss but being asked to bat first gave him the result he wanted anyway on a muggy St Albans afternoon.

Old Cholms quickly showed why they are at the top of the league, bowling at a decent clip and asking plenty of questions of the openers. Six overs had passed before the run tally broke it's duck, but that flurry of positivity was spoiled as Rudlin snicked to third slip, with Thomas following in the same over.

And so it continued, a relatively strong line-up failing to live up to potential, the most frustrating of sins. Briefly Price and Walker found some respite in the change bowlers but the innings ended quickly. 43 all out before drinks was not quite what the doctor ordered, the regularly featuring “extras” top scorer with 13.

Tea was not yet ready, so it was straight back out after the innings turn around. The visitors played liberally with the bat without getting away. Price picked up two wickets in her first over and added a third to finish with a very respectable 3 for 4, while Ralfe also nabbed one.

Five wickets were taken - that's 5 bonus points - but inevitably Old Cholmeleians reached their target.

Yes the opposition were stronger but this was a head-scratchingly poor performance which none of the XI could be happy with. The threes desperately need to find a way to win.
