Match report St Albans arrived at a small Sun soaked Wembley ground and having lost the toss were put into Bowl first in a time game. Hay and Little set to work with the new ball and kept things tight with a mix of pace, swing and the odd slower delivery used to great effect. The breakthrough came in the 9th Over when Hay forced the Opener into a rash shot caught at mid on. Roche growing in confidence stepped up at the awkward uphill end and bowled well. New comer Umer took 2 wickets in an 11 over spell of quality off spin and had a couple of close shouts turned down. Hay took the only other wicket in his second and Wicket Keeper Hicks looked as comfortable as ever with the gloves on a pitch with variable bounce. Suffering from a few injured players and some lacklustre fielding St Albans let Wembley get to 238.

Faz and Hollis went out to open against the wily “Snowy” who also plays at Abbots, both started positively but Wembley got their early breakthroughs as wickets fell at regular intervals. The ship was steadied by Hay and Hicks with Hay hitting a solid 33 and Hicks finishing on an unbeaten 37 supported by the tail denied Wembley the win under intense pressure as they surrounded the bat in search of the final wickets.

Some good individual performances to come away with a draw but Wembley were the better side, things to work on; commitment in the field and more resilience with the bat!
