Match report In a thrilling match at Radlett, the IIIs suffered a loss that left all in the team agonising over the fine margins of cricket.

Having set Radlett 154 to win in 47 overs, Saints had recovered from a sluggish start with the ball to claw their way on top. Rajani was the chief architect, destroying the middle order, and finished with 5/46. Together with Bottoms (1/19), this left the hosts at 6/73. Two stubborn partnerships of 32 and 22 brought the match back on to an even keel, but a run out and wicket in the 41st over meant that 27 runs were required in 6 overs with numbers 10 and 11 at the crease. Surely Saints would have their way now? Unfortunately it was not to be, as the final pair played with an unexpected fluency to get Radlett home.

In choosing to bat first, Saints would have hoped for more than the 153 they mustered - though at least they batted to the final over of their 53. In a familiar story, 7 batsmen reached double figures, but none could exceed Watkins' top score of 30. From 3/101, and even 5/128, better should have been expected, but to be fair Radlett showed all round strength with the ball - none better than Purohit's 5/53 from 22 well controlled overs.

In the field and with the ball, little could be faulted, with efforts sustained in warm conditions. But perhaps one or two little mistakes had made the difference in this fine game of cricket.
