Match report On a poor pitch, the toss was vital, and needless to say, St Albans didn't win it and were asked to bat. With big chunks of the top surface coming away with every ball, it was almost impossible to bat on.
The Hatch End bowlers just needed to put the ball in the right spot and it would either jump up, move in or out off the pitch...

The St Albans batting very got into any sort of swing, as wickets tumbled quicker than the scoreboard could get them up. Only Nick 'Slog' James came away with any score. The entire St Albans innings was wrapped up in 38 overs with just three boundaries.

Hatch End bowler, J Vadera, ended with figures of 18 -11-11-6.

In return, the Hatch End batsmen came out with the 'long handle' knowing that they had 61 runs overs to score the runs, but were not going to wait around. Balls dropped in places where no fielders stood and despite attacking fields there were never enough runs to defend.

James, Zaman and Mitchell all took a wicket, but the game was wrapped up before tea.

It could have been so different if the toss had fallen right, and the match played on something resembling a cricket wicket.
