St Albans Cricket Club Lost 49 runs

Match report Final 2 games and Saints visited Radlett on a high note after an impressive run of wins. Things started really well as both opening 2 overs from Ben and Dan produced a wicket each and Radlett over countered with some aggressive batting and some loose bowling to score almost 10 runs an over and were 80 runs in 10 overs.
Things changed after introduction of spin from both ends where Sammy and Harry bowled really well and on spot to reduce the host to 120 for 6 at drinks break.
However some loose fielding and bowling let’s loose the host and ended in 227, by far above par total on a wicket which was giving some assistance to both slow and seam bowling.
Saints had to make sure they start well but lost early wickets however Stuart showed resistance with some excellent shots and was unlucky to be given out on 36. Then Saints had two good partnerships Toole and Amit who steadied the innings but skipper went 1st ball after the drinks break on 28. Then Toole and Cales who showed some aggression and the run rate was never the problem but wickets on hand were an issue.
After the loss of Toole and Cales things went went and in the end Saints were all out for 178 inside 40 overs, with more than 10 overs to spare we had a chance but did not capitalise.
Things would have been different had we taken the chances and also other results went our way as top 2 sides lost.
Let’s come strong for last game of the season and learn from the mistakes we made and be strong and positive for next one!
