St Albans Cricket Club 5XI v Northampton Exiles on Sat 29 May 2021 at 12 noon
Match was Abandoned due to injury

Match report St. Albans lost the toss and bowled first in the beautiful sunshine for the first time this season. Tom Bentley and Finley Killner opened up with a great first spell each, keeping it tight but unfortunately not picking up any wickets. On came Giles Bavister, picking up a wicket (Caught Tom Bentley) with his third ball. Siva came on the next over, snicking off the other opener in to the gloves of keeper Tommy Hutchinson. Siva then had another one in the over and Northampton Exiles were suddenly 24/3. Some accurate and testing bowling, from Siva and Giles, and catches from Lucas and Tommy, took us through to drinks when the oppo were 37/7. Charlie Bavister replaced his dad and bowled possibly the best spell of the day, 6 overs for 3 runs, unfortunately not picking up a much-deserved wicket. Alex Garcia-Ghuran toiled away with a tight spell but was also unfortunately wicketless. Tom Bentley came back on and picked up 2 quick wickets in the over, and the next over Siva, who had 4 for 8 came back on. With an extra slip in play, the last batsman edged to Lucas at slip and Siva finished with figures of 5 for 8, and Northampton Exiles were all out for 48.

Chasing a measly total of 48, Marcus Cunnington and Lucas got us underway. Unfortunately, after 3 overs with the score 2/0, a member of the Northampton Exiles dislocated his knee when stopping a ball at point and was in severe discomfort. An ambulance was 2 hours away and with the advice of not moving him before the ambulance arrived, the game was unfortunately called off. We wish him a speedy and successful recovery.
