Match report A youthful St Albans 4XI fought hard against Mill Hill Village but ultimately didn't get enough runs on the board on a sunny but breezy day.

Winning the toss and batting first, a 70 partnership between Maynard and Nisar after the early departure of Burman (2) set the foundations for a good 1st innings total. But with the departure of Maynard (31) and Nisar (40) in quick succession the wickets started to tumble at regular intervals with only a breezy 20 from Saunders offering substantial resistance.

Emmerson (0-20) and Townend (1-37) opened the bowling, with the former bowling tidily throughout and the later recovering well from an expensive couple of early overs. West (2-24) came on first change and bowled well on debut picking up two wickets, while Nisar (1-34) offered control from the other end. The late introduction of Kanchwala (1-10) and Szczech (0-9) couldn't prevent Mill Hill from wrapping up the victory inside 30 overs.

THE GOOD:
A good all round batting performance with everyone contributing. Good spells of bowling from Callum and Zach.

THE BAD:
Not batting all the available overs. Tom's first couple of overs... but he recovered well and bowled some good stuff at the end.

THE UGLY:
The state of the ball at the end of the second innings - it looked like it had been used for 80 overs not 30... must try harder!
