Match report A bright, dry day at Clarence Park saw the IIs finish with a draw, after looking second best to their opponents Sandridge for most of the day.

The visitors were pleased to win the toss, to take their chances batting first on a strip that looked good in excellent conditions. Openers Camm and Peters found their groove on a slow, low wicket, compiling an opening stand of 97 before Erasmus broke through. Temple continued on to reach an excellent century, supported by Rothery and Llewellyn-Jenkins, as Sandridge declared on 255 for 4 after 51 overs.

For Saints, there was little to write home about in the field, with wickets hard to come by for the bowlers, a few too many extras conceded, a smattering of missed or half chances, and some listlessness creeping in as the innings built momentum. Erasmus returned 3 wickets in a full 15 over spell.

Ingham and Curtis started well in reply, on what was after all a good wicket with a quick outfield. But soon Saints fell to 57/5, perhaps let down by some umpiring decisions that might have gone either way. Erasmus and Rajani regained some composure, before Erasmus and Vijender joined forces. At an asking rate of more than eight an over the game looked over, but these two steadily built a partnership of 91 to force Sandridge into slightly less attacking field settings. Erasmus was eventually dismissed for a solid 63, and it was ultimately left to Khan and Vijender to resist to the end, with Vijender remaining 59 not out.

With a total of 219 for 8, this at least gave Saints maximum batting points, and so the seconds remain fourth on the league table, in a tightly packed table.
