Match report The club XI took on Rickmansworth for the second time this year at Sandpit line. Zac and Joe Button took the new ball, with both picking up early wickets. Joe dutifully slowed his pace down for the youngster batting at 3 but after 2 decent shots clearly decided enough was enough, cranking up the pace to clip the top of off stump. Sam took over from the top end bowling a good spell with little luck. Rickmansworth had kindly leant us a player who quickly proved his worth, picking up two wickets and ending up with the fine figures of 2 for 8 from his 6 overs. Their kipper, who was the first of those wickets, looked less than impressed. George and Tom took over after drinks and kept things tight. Both got wickets, George unlucky not to get more as a couple of shots dropped just short of the fielders. All in all a good performance from a young side, restricting Rickmansworth to a total of 134,

Charlie and Zac opened the innings. Charlie was unlucky to nick off and Zac was then bounced out on the astro - a fantastic one handed catch from one of the Rickmansworth colts. Marcus and Siva then steadied the ship, both playing aggressively and hitting the boundary with ease. Marcus was yorked for a well made 22 which brought Joe to the crease. Another wicket could have made things interesting but, with the weather closing in Joe and Siva clearly decided that they wanted an early shower. Rickmansworth rotated their bowling to little effect, with some brutal hitting from both batsman chasing down 134 inside 16 overs. There was a vigorous debate after the game with Joe "correcting" the scorebook as there were quite a few missing runs when the book was added up. Who knows what the actual scores were but by consensus Siva got his fifty and Joe scored 40ish. A good win and really pleasing to be able to put out a club XI so close to the end of the season.
