Match report The first match of the season and a beautiful sunny evening at Sandpit Lane. Due to availability the team were a player short but bolstered with 5 players from the U13 squad, and several notable debuts.
Skipper Eadie won the toss and asked Letchworth to set a target. The Letchworth top 3 enjoyed the sunny conditions and all three retired on 30*, rattling along to 130 after 13 overs. St Albans kept up their focus and really pegged back their middle order with some tight bowling and support in the field, pulling the run rate back to a very respectable 3/over. Letchworth finishing on 159. Special mention to Luci who joined the club two days before at training, was drafted straight into the team, kept wicket for the first time in a match, and was fearless standing up to the stumps for the whole innings.

St Albans realised that the target would be a stretch so set their own target to 100. Early in the innings the openers struggled against the pace and accuracy of the Letchworth county level attack. However after the first bowling change Elaina 29 and Eadie 14 both found some fluency, Elaina hitting 22 from one over. The other batters all contributed, scoring steadily. The team reaching 100 for 6 at the end of their 20 overs.
A game played in a very positive spirit, and a great effort from a very young team, against a very strong opposition.
